More Older Adults Using Mobility Devices

Despite concerns, using devices such as canes and walkers is not a fall risk, study says.

About one-quarter of adults aged 65 years and older use mobility devices—such as canes, walkers, and wheelchairs—according to a study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, May 2015. Researchers interviewed 7,600 Medicare beneficiaries, and found that 16.4 percent of seniors used a cane, 11.6 percent used walkers, and 6.1 percent used wheelchairs. […]
